Haven’t told a good racist joke in a while. Maybe not since our first?
Finished reading Machine of Death (finally!). The second half of the book has some great short stories, full up on beautiful, thoughtful prose about death and destiny. If you’re into the whole “hope vs. morbid futility of life” thing, I recommend picking it up. Most of the stories are short enough to complete in a 20-minute train ride, so that’s always nice if you’re commuter scum like myself.
Now I’m reading Where Men Win Glory, one of the few Krakauer books I haven’t finished yet. I’m only about 20 pages in, but there’s already been one of those classic adrenaline-shot Krakauer actions scenes that slams your wimpy guts around with vivid, way-too-real drama and tension.
I’ll let you know how it turns out!
