Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you don’t mind a minor interruption to our story here for a little holiday acknowledgment. Celebrating Thanksgiving is sort of a tradition here at Lead Paint, as you can see with these lovely older strips right here and here. As for why it’s a tradition, I don’t really know. Realistically though, I don’t know the “why’s” of very many of our comics, so I suppose we should just move forward and focus on why Dana is so God-damn good at drawing a Dad leaping over a couch holding a shotgun. Is that something they teach in art school? Is it something she’s been doodling on the backs of trapper-keepers and notebooks since the times of braces and bad haircuts? Probably only the most potent telepaths would know such secrets, but finding one of them on turkey day is going to be a little hard. I imagine most powerful mind-readers spend Thanksgiving holed up in the quietest, deepest, darkest and distant-est caves, protecting their empathetic minds from the sensation of 300 million people repressing feelings about dry stuffing or the wrong kind of cranberry sauce.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun Thanksgiving. If we’re going to honor the spirit of the holiday, I feel I must confess some things I am thankful for. Certainly I am grateful for each and every one of you, our readers, who pop in once and again to see what demented, offensive or just poorly crafted jpegs are being offered for your amusement. Dana and I are very lucky to have some of the sweetest, funniest and most loyal fans on the internet, so thanks very much for reading guys and girls.
I’d also like to thank my friends, family and girlfriend for being so supportive of the comic. At best, making a webcomic is a time-consuming and self-destructive hobby, and at worst, it’s a lifelong passion. Thank you for tolerating my long absences, writing-induced mood swings, fairly boring life outside the comic, and my disinterest in self-improvement beyond writing a good joke about barfing meat-golems. I doubt I’ll ever be able to repay your kindnesses, but I will do my best to be the same invaluable friend that you’ve been for me.
<3 and happy Thanksgiving everyone,
