Presenting the third excerpt from our handy-dandy monster survival guide. We’ll be releasing pages from our secret vault all month, the first of which you can see right here.
As far as horror tropes go, I guess ventriloquists’ dummies are a little silly and predictable, but I’ll admit to liking them all the same. I’m not going to embed these videos for the sake of site loading speed, but here are a few links to some personal favorites:
The Ventriloquist from Batman: Even though the plot of every ventriloquist episode was exactly the same, I still always loved them. Scarface’s dialogue is always incredible, the psychology of Arnold and Scarface as a character is fascinating to me, and the two of them are somehow able to throw lit bundles of dynamite one-handed. What’s not to love?
Tales from the Crypt: The Ventriloquist’s Dummy: Staring Don Rickles and Bobcat Goldthwait, which sounds horrible I know, but if you can make it past 3:32 on the first video, you’ll be rewarded with that sweet Tales-From-the-Crypt splendor. Here is part 2 and part 3.
Child’s Play:Technically not a ventriloquist’s dummy I know, but I can’t talk about doll-related horror without mentioning good old Chucky.
Give this a click for a little JoCo.
