This just made my life! My friends are all obsessed with Glee and I’ve never been able to see what they see in it. To me, it’s always been just another cheesy, overrated, no-plot, Hollywood-esque glitter crap. Finally, someone who sees the light! Well anyways, love it This is probably one of my favorite Lead Paint comics

I was just arguing with this girl today about how idiotic the show Glee is.
Her response: “Personal preference. But bad singing and interest lacking plots didnt make GLEE the top show on TV this fall ”

My reply: “Just because it is popular does not mean it is actually good. This is shown consistently throughout our American culture. Miley Cyrus for example. Cute girl, bad singer.”

To which she had no reply.

My point is, I appreciate this comic.

Here’s your answer: The lowest common denominator almost always wins on TV. Just think about the success of:
-American Idol
-Jay Leno
-Wheel of Fortune
-Grey’s Anatomy

I mean I could go on forever, but basically the worse a show is, the better it will do (especially on network TV).

Your argument is fair, but the sense of humor is right up my alley and not a large part of the program, so I put up with it.

My comment was mostly aimed at Margo, who seems mostly fixated on the musical aspect. And I don’t really understand what she means by the humor being “obvious”.

Grant, first of all, please feel free to curse in our comments if you like. I can’t make a sandwich without saying “fuck” like eight times, so I’d feel pretty silly trying to keep it clean here (though I appreciate your politeness).

Yes, Jane Lynch is funny I suppose, but the flaw in your arguement lies in admitting there are parts of the show worth fast-forwarding through. Ideally, the programming I occupy myself with has zero moments that warrent hitting the double-right arrow.

I think Glee is some hilarious s#it. I don’t think the American Idol crossover is as great as many of you think; for me, the musical numbers are the part I want to fast-forward. I just like the sometimes-mean sense of humor. C’mon, Jane Lynch anyone?
